About him
I’m Richard, an English gentleman of 81, living near Truro in Cornwall. Affectionate by nature and curious about life, I’d love to meet a lady whose company I look forward to—and who looks forward to mine.
Classical music and opera are among my greatest pleasures, from Handel and Mozart to Verdi and Wagner. A wonderful performance can move me deeply, and sharing it with someone beside me would make it all the more enjoyable. I also enjoy ballet, photography, discovering new places and lingering over a good meal and an interesting conversation.
My life has taken me through scientific research, teaching and consultancy, with years spent in America and the Philippines. I have plenty of stories to tell, but I’d be equally interested to hear yours. A lively mind, warmth and a sense of humour appeal to me far more than a matching list of hobbies.
I value honesty, kindness and tenderness. I’m agnostic and a non-smoker. I don’t normally drink, but would happily share a glass of wine over a candlelit dinner if my companion wished.
I’m hoping for affectionate companionship, with the pleasure of getting to know one another and discovering whether that special connection is there. Sharing thoughts, making plans, holding hands and becoming important to each other would mean a great deal to me.
